2021 Annual Report

2021 marked a community-wide call to action to address growing disparities in access to housing in the Valley,  which are felt (and heard) in new ways, and with new urgency. The sense of belonging afforded by secure housing is increasingly hard to come by, especially for year-round residents whose income is derived locally.

The Methow Housing Trust is humbled by how you, our supporters, have come together to help us expand upon the ways that local folks can access stable, quality, affordable housing, now and forever.

Strategic Planning for Organizational Growth

The Methow Housing Trust’s Board and Staff completed strategic planning to define our organizational growth. Read more about MHT's priorities and capacity building in our full Annual Report HERE

Expansion of Eligibility and Increased Demand in MHT Homeownership

The Methow Housing Trust expanded eligibility to our program and defined two pathways to homeownership that correspond to the economic realities of our community. 51 qualified households are currently in the waitpool for homeownership through MHT.

Completion of the Canyon Street Neighborhood

Construction on the final Canyon Street homes in Twisp was completed. MHT’s neighborhoods in Twisp and Mazama now total 21 homes.

New Partnerships to Expand Housing Opportunities

A new chapter of expanded housing service to our community began in 2021, with a formal partnership being announced with the Housing Authority of Okanogan County to create permanently affordable rentals in our Winthrop neighborhood. Community Engagement to Advance More Housing Solutions

The Housing Solutions Network, explored and vetted 26 housing solutions for the Methow Valley through community engaged stakeholder meetings during 2021.

As of the end of 2021, the Methow Housing Trust has the financial momentum and capacity to develop an additional 50 permanently affordable homes. Recognizing that our waitpool (currently 51 households) is growing at the rate of 10-15 new households per year, there is more fundraising to do, to fulfill the demand for our program.

NOW is the time to invest in community housing needs, in order to ensure the future of the Methow Valley for generations to come.
