See how YOU shape the work of MHT
YOU, our community, have informed the direction of the Methow Housing Trust throughout our formative years.
2014-2017
The Methow Valley Long Term Recovery group, led to the creation of the Methow Housing Trust in 2017. At that time we knew there was a growing need for affordable homeownership for those who live and work in the Methow Valley. Early support of MHT helped to establish our core organizational competencies in developing homes and stewarding applicants through the home purchasing process.
2020
Tackling the complex housing crisis requires wide spread community action. In response to this need, MHT led the creation of the Housing Solutions Network in 2020 to facilitate action on more local housing solutions.
2018-2019
The need for affordable homeownership rapidly increased over the next five years, and the unfolding housing crisis has acutely impacted local individuals and our collective well being. In 2019 the first MHT homebuyers purchased their homes. At the close of 2022, 26 families own MHT homes in Twisp, Winthrop and Mazama, and there are currently over 60 households waiting to own a home through the Methow Housing trust.
2021
Our community knows that affordable rentals are a critical part of building a healthier housing ecosystem in the Methow Valley. In late 2021, MHT formalized a partnership with the Housing Authority of Okanogan County (HAOC) to develop 22 affordable rentals in our future Cascade Meadows (North) Neighborhood in Winthrop.
2022
In 2022 our community showed up to answer the question what does it look like to build belonging in the Methow Valley? The success of MHT’s Capital Campaign to Build Belonging (which will result in 75 local families owning permanently affordable, quality MHT homes by the end of this decade) marks the beginning of what we hope will be an era of continued coordinated efforts to ensure a future for our Methow Valley where all who call this place home, have access to secure housing.
Because of your investment in MHT, 2 new staff positions were created in 2022 to support an increased rate of construction, to better serve applicants and homeowners, and for MHT to remain a leader for more community led housing solutions.
