Meet Methow Housing Trust's Newest Board Members!
John Bliss
After enjoying the Methow Valley for over 30 years with our family, in 2015 my wife Maria and I realized our dream of owning a cabin in Mazama. As natives of Eastern Washington, we both look forward to being able to spend much more time in the Valley. My pending retirement from a long real estate career in Seattle and Maria’s gradual transition from managing the yoga studio she owns on Mercer Island offers just that opportunity! I currently serve on the board of Bellwether Housing, Seattle’s largest affordable housing provider.

Raised in the Midwest, I came to the Methow Valley in the Fall of 2016 by way of the Pacific Crest Trail, and just hours later, I signed a lease to rent for the season. Instantly enamored by the place and it’s people, I drove back to Chicago just a few days later, excited to show my now wife Keri, and our dog Cormac, a new place to call home. Before heading west, I worked in event marketing while trying my hand racing road bikes. Now I spend most of the year in the woods pruning and removing trees and am always eager to get out to ride my bike or slide on snow in some fashion.

The Methow was love at first sight since we laid down our roots here 20 years ago. It's been such a pleasure to be involved in the community, from coaching the Methow Valley Killer Whales to cofounding Sam and Augie's Mercantile. The last ten years I've been very fortunate to work for the Methow Conservancy, as the Land Program Manager. While I work to protect the rural landscape of the Methow, I also appreciate the need for quality, affordable housing closer to towns.
