How does homeownership through a community land trust work?

Local residents purchase the house and the Methow Housing Trust retains ownership of the land so that the house will remain affordable for future generations of Methow Valley homebuyers. MHT homes earn a guaranteed amount of equity every year, that is passed on to the homeowner.

When a homeowner goes to sell their home, it is sold to the next eligible applicant in the MHT waitpool.
